First Slaughter serves as an origin story within the Camp Blood series, but not much of the origin is covered here. Even the clown mask has to make way for a completely different mask, making it almost impossible to link the whole thing to the basic concept. Moreover, a name like Mark Polonia at the helm promises little improvement over Brad Sykes' slightly more direct approach, and as a result, the acting drops below any conceivable level and the image quality looks shoddy. Even the practical effects are somewhat swapped for computer-generated visuals. A real shame, although there wasn't much to salvage.
