Pasteur & Koch: Un Duel de Géants dans la Guerre des Microbes plot
At the end of the nineteenth century, the French chemist and biologist Louis Pasteur became increasingly convinced that so-called micro-organisms are responsible for infectious diseases. At the same time, in Germany, Robert Koch comes to the same conclusion. He manages to identify the bacteria responsible for anthrax. Pasteur goes one step further and in 1881 he successfully administers a vaccine against this dangerous disease to some fifty sheep. The French scientific world showers Pasteur with praise, but he refuses to recognize Koch's pioneering work. This causes a bitter rivalry between the two scientists.
