Hochelaga, Terre des Âmes plot
On a summer day, a sinkhole forms during an American football game at a stadium in downtown Montreal. Artifacts are exposed. Archaeologist Baptiste Asigny and a research team believe they can link the find to the Iroquois village of Hochelaga. It may have been the meeting place between Jacques Cartier and the Iroquois Indians in 1535. A journey through time begins: to the village in 1267, centuries before it was colonized; the arrival of Cartier and his violent invasion; a deadly epidemic that struck Montreal in 1687; the Lower Canada Rebellion of 1837; and a groundbreaking moment in neurology in 1944.
