I really couldn't do anything with this. Kitschy look and boring. I fell asleep twice watching it.

Stays fun.

Saw the movie in theaters at the time. After that, it actually stayed in the back of my mind. In any case, I can't remember that it left such a big impression at the time. However, this one did on a quiet evening, and I come to a nice conclusion that this film could handle the so-called fairytale magic much better than the sequel.

It is therefore nice that there is again a really competent director behind the wheel. Stromberg is instructed to create something beautiful with a fairly standard story, and he succeeds very well. It had been a while since I could really feel what truly magical and imaginative high-budget images should look like. Maleficent makes use of every environment and also maintains a nice focus.

Also striking how well the actors and actresses fit into their roles. I never dreamed I'd catch Jolie in a seriously strong role. Fits perfectly into the character here. Makes a lot less impression in the sequel, but then you can also see that a really good director can make the difference quickly. Fanning also impresses as a hyper-happy fairytale princess. In addition, no supporting role disturbs and everyone contributes well to the atmosphere that is emphasized.

Unfortunately, the sometimes very clear greenscreens and the story that perhaps follows the baselines a bit too well, otherwise I really enjoyed the imaginative environment that is created here. Great cinematography, lots of color and flair and some great texts that are exchanged. It's been a long time since I saw another modern live-action Disney movie that left such an impression on me. Many can enjoy the magic in any case. Recommendation!

Very narrowly enough. Visuals are beautiful. Also nice that such a fairy tale is not black and white in terms of good and evil. Nevertheless, much was predictable and the pace was not really good. While the film is still on the short side. Jolie does a nice job but she doesn't really impress either.
