Little Matti is lonely. He has no playmates and according to GDR regulations he cannot go to kindergarten, because his mother can take care of him at home as a result of the newborn twins. But one day Matti gets to know the likeable Mr. Clasen. He takes the boy to his garage, which is a real playground for little Matti, with all his car parts and tools. When the little fellow discovers a scrapped fire truck in a junkyard, the wealthy Clasen buys the vehicle.
