Slepaya Ptitsa plot

Vasya finds a blind pelican and convinces his grandfather to let the beast live because he knows that the beast will not survive in the wild. Then he reads in the newspaper about a famous professor in Moscow who can make blind people see again through an operation. The boy takes the pelican in search of the professor in the hope that he can convince the surgeon to operate on the pelican, so that it can still fly south with its peers.
