"What doesn't kill you makes you family."
Mordecai, who has worked as a plumber and painter all his life, likes to fix things. That's why his phone is 20 years old and held together with duct tape and aluminum foil. What he cannot rectify is old age, his wife Fela's dementia and his shaky relationship with his son Marvin. Mordecai's world changes unexpectedly when Marvin replaces his old phone with a brand new iPhone. This is how the older man befriends Nina, who teaches him how to use the strange device without buttons. Gradually, Mordecai begins to open up to new experiences and new perspectives. Eventually, by letting go, he begins to heal the things he can't fix and turn the pain of his past into something beautiful.
