"The National Film Board's First Feature Length Presentation"
Frustrated with his boring office job, War veteran Dan Greer leaves Montreal with his wife and two sons. They travel to the unexplored west and settle in rural Saskatchewan. With the help of their neighbors they build a farm. The first crops are destroyed by a hail storm, but the family perseveres. After years of prosperity in the 1920s, a period of great drought and problems for every farmer follows.
