Dessine-moi un Jouet plot

France, early 20th century. Louis, 12, lives with his parents in the countryside. In addition to being a farmer, his father is also a traditional turner. One day, Louis' girlfriend Marie has to be hospitalized because she has tuberculosis. Louis learned the basics of turning from his father and a German colleague of his father's shows the refined wooden toys from Germany. On a trip to Germany, Louis receives a magical wooden doll that eventually heals Marie.
