A Wind at My Back Christmas plot

Christmas preparations in New Bedford, Canada, are not going as planned. Many residents have other things on their minds and are therefore not really in the Christmas mood yet. Grace is stranded in Europe with her mother because the war has broken out there, while her sister-in-law Toppy tries to make a success of a stage performance in New Bedford, but the script is too bad for words. And so there are even more residents who should actually be in a Christmas mood, but due to circumstances do not get around to it.
