"Joust Do It."
Young Calvin Fuller is taken to King Arthur's court by the wizard Merlin. His mission: to save Camelot. To achieve this, he must face the villain Lord Belascoe, train to become a knight and rescue Princess Catherine who has fallen in love with him in the meantime.

A reasonable and entertaining family film.
Michael Gottlieb's last movie. The director was only active as a producer from 1995 to 2004, and died in 2014 at the age of 69. Since the release of this movie, Kate Winslet and Daniel Craig have become huge superstars in Hollywood. For Winslet, this was her first Disney film. The actress was reportedly told to lose weight for her role, but ended up falling ill as a result. Paloma Baeza made her acting debut with this film. Despite playing King Arthur's youngest daughter, she is six months older than Kate Winslet. The age difference with Thomas Ian Nicholas is five years. For Thomas Ian Nicholas, this was his second film playing a Little League baseball player. He was previously seen in Rookie of the Year. Ron Moody previously played the role of Merlin in The Spaceman and King Arthur. He was also active as King Arthur in the episode "A Divine Madness" of Highway to Heaven.
Most critics and movie buffs assumed the story was an adaptation of Mark Twain's "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". Although this movie was influenced by the classic story, it is only loosely based on the novel. That may explain the low reviews. Despite everything, this family film contains a few nice ingredients for an entertaining ride. In 1997, Trimark released a sequel without Disney's cooperation under the title A Kid in Aladdin's Palace.
