Unrest plot

Hidden in the woods, a naked young woman reveals her body while pleasuring herself. Or could it be the other way around, that the camouflage reveals even more through a secret affinity between tree branches and the subtle contours of the young woman's body? That the tangle of leaves is actually an invitation to stare even more emphatically at her quest for a climax?

Better than White Epilepsy, much less than Meutriere. Unlike those two films, this one is a bit more incoherent in terms of atmosphere, although that is not even a downside in itself. I found the opening by far the strongest, also reminded me a bit of Malgré la Nuit with those overlapping image layers. The next two sequences drag on too long and, unlike the aforementioned Meurtriere, are too sterile to really hypnotize me. But it is of course a special experience. 3*.

Philippe anyway,

As Leatherhead already wrote, the film consists of 3 phases, the first of which is by far the best. Wonderfully hypnotic but at the same time, as we are used to from the best man, certainly uncomfortable. Philippe trots on in the other two parts a bit, actually. His films have always been a bit slow-paced, but this is next level. Moreover, no real soundtrack that can keep things together a bit.

Now the film is nowhere boring or terrible to watch, but a little more cayenne pepper for next time would be nice. I can therefore only really recommend it to die-hard Grandrieux fans, and even then it is on the edge I think.

3*
