Kimuro Hajime is a Hiroshima bomb survivor and dean at a prestigious faculty's film academy. His wife Emiko is gradually demented and lives half in her past. Kimuro takes care of the promising student Daisuke, who is fascinated by the 1940s and 1950s. He tries to steer the boy, bend his talent and give him a correct perspective on the Second World War. As a result, Kimuro himself also thinks back to that time and sees a woman who could be the twin of a love lost in the war. Is she a ghost or is he going senile too? Daisuke is now in a depression and thinks about ending his life.
