Youngblood Hawke plot
"He was young and crude, some kind of country-boy joke, but a woman could feel him across a room."
Youngblood Hawke is a truck driver from Kentucky who leaves for New York City to make it as a writer. He soon meets publisher Jeanne Green, who sees talent in Hawke's work. Jeanne falls for the handsome "Kentuckian" Hawke and helps him with his book. The first book turns out to be a moderate success, but Hawke's confidence grows when seasoned actress Irene Perry wants to play his story on Broadway. Hawke soon discovers that he is popular with many women, and Hawke's abandoned and saddened Jeanne takes a job at another publishing house. His second book makes Hawke very popular with the elite in New York. When Hawke has an affair with married elite Frieda Winter and her husband Paul discovers she is unfaithful to him, he ruins Hawke's career.
