Yo, la Peor de Todas plot
The film is based on the life of the nun Juana Ines de la Cruz, one of the greatest poetess from 17th century Mexico. She is the pride of the monastery through her poems. However, the arrival of a new archbishop will change her life forever. She becomes entangled in a power struggle between the archbishop and the Spanish governor. Juana enjoys the protection of the governor and his wife, with whom she develops a passionate friendship. All this is a thorn in the side of the Catholic Church, which tries to bring it into line by every possible means. The governor eventually loses the battle of the church and this has major consequences for Juana.
