This is called a tragicomedy.
Lying for the sake of it and remaining honest at the same time.
Such is the main character in this somewhat unusual film.
The positive thing is that it remains interesting.
Some might call it superficial and even over-sentimental.
I call it beautiful.
The actress who plays the blind girl is gorgeous.

Something completely different from Yimou Zhang, who tries to turn a story that is somewhat reminiscent of Cinderella into a kind of farce with a dramatic twist towards the end (but without a prince). I don't think it's very successful and below the level I'm normally used to from Zhang. Admittedly, the film contains a handful of comic and a few tragic moments, but they generally come across as rather forced. And I find the ending literally and figuratively dramatic. Too bad about the excellent acting of Dong Jie as the blind girl.
