Wu Ge Nu Zi He Yi Gen Sheng Zi plot

The film revolves around the collective suicide of five young girls in the traditional Chinese countryside during feudal China. The five girls, from the same village and ranging in age from 16 to 20, are close friends. They learn from each other that adult women are unhappy in forced marriage, humiliated and considered fit only to care for offspring. To avoid their fate as slaves after an arranged marriage, they commit a dramatic act. They hang themselves on the day of immortality (September 9) while they are still virgins, because they think they will then enter the 'heavenly garden'.
