Wild Horse from Shangri-La plot

Wild Horse lives with his mother and sister in a small mountain village. His sister is very ill and only an expensive operation can save the girl. However, Wild Horse and his mother don't have the money for this and they are too proud to take the few cents that the rest of the villagers can gather. When Wild Horse accidentally learns that a running race is being organized in the city with a large sum of money as the first prize, he is immediately convinced to participate. One problem: the race is in a few days and the city is far away. How will Wild Horse ever get there in time without a car or bus?
