Wilaya plot
Fatimetu was born to a Sahrawi family in a refugee camp in the Algerian Sahara and later sent to foster parents in Spain. After her mother's death, she returns to the camp. She hasn't been there in sixteen years. Her brother expects her to stay to take care of her sister Hayat, who has difficulty walking. Fatimetu, who unlike the other women can drive a vehicle, finds work transporting animals, meat and bread from one district to another. Over time, the Sahrawi people become accustomed to the woman driving through the desert without a hijab, in her battered jeep. But Fatimetu is torn between life in the desert and her memories of her foster family and friends in Spain.
