Whose Wife? plot

Mary Melville marries the wealthy charmer Claude Varden to please her invalid mother. On the night they are to honeymoon in South America, Mary's mother falls seriously ill and Mary decides to stay home and care for her. Varden goes anyway, because he owns several mines in South America. However, Tom Nelson, the husband of one of the many married women with whom Varden has had affairs in the past, stalks him and follows him aboard the ship. On the ship, Varden meets the beautiful and wealthy Nitra Ruiz and her brother Ramon.
