When a Fellow Needs a Friend plot
Edward Haverford "Eddie" Randall is an invalid boy who is forbidden by his overprotective parents to play with the children in the neighborhood. Eddie has pinned his hopes on a German doctor who might be able to heal his leg. His nephew Froggie comes to stay, but is downright mean to Eddie. Uncle Jonas sees what is happening, but Eddie's parents don't believe him because Froggie is nice to them. Jonas tries to make Eddie more resilient and teaches him to play boxing and baseball, with the only result that Jonas is denied access to the house.
