Kati is the daughter of farmer and horse breeder Ertl, who is in deep financial trouble. To help her father, Kati decides to marry the wealthy lumberjack Bruckner, although she is actually in love with Martin. Before that, her father hopes to recover by winning at the horse races in Baden-Baden. When his stallion Bosco actually wins, there is great joy, until it turns out that the horse was drugged.
