"How much do we need to get married on?"
Marjorie "Margy" White Brooks and William "Bill" Brooks form a newlywed couple who try to keep their marital status a secret from their boss Carl B. Beamis. Company policy forbids marriages between colleagues. The couple has money problems and Margy is pregnant. The real trouble begins when Beamis finds out they're married and fires Margy. Unable to pay their bills, Margy and Bill lose their furniture. Desperate for income, Bill becomes involved with loan sharks. Beamis finds out and Bill is fired too.
