We Were the Mulvaneys plot

The Mulvaney family reveals the truth about the facts when their daughter Marianne is raped. Desperately trying to avoid public scandal, Michael and Corinne force Marianne to keep quiet about her horrible experience. So they send her to an unknown location where she can supposedly 'recover'. Over the next three years, Corinne tries to overcome her indignation and guilt at her daughter's plight and so throws herself overzealously into religion, while the once-ambitious Michael degenerates into a violent drunkard.
