We Were Children plot

'Kill the Indian in the child' has been the mission of dozens of government-funded and church-run boarding schools in Canada for over 130 years. The idea was naive simplicity: move children out of their homes at a young age, get them to learn French and English and embrace God and before you know it they'll be integrated into Canadian society. That this degrading mission has had a devastating impact on tens of thousands of children and their families is clear from the stories of the now grown-up Lyna Hart and Glen Anaquod.
