"Sometimes love has a life of it's own."
Fielding Pierce lives the life of a politician in the making: he serves in the coastguard to avoid Vietnam, and in 1973 he starts his law degree. He falls in love with Sarah, whose life is all about helping others. Unfortunately, she is killed in an explosion. Nine years later, Fielding is suddenly flooded with thoughts and visions of his lost love.
