In Vienna in 1913, a young woman from vaudeville theatre circles is about to marry a construction draftsman. He has to join the army and sends his bride into the countryside so that she cannot be lured onto the stage. She does it anyway and becomes so confused by the love affair of an officer that she commits suicide.
