1967. Rosemarie, or Ruby as she prefers to be called, is in love. She has a hard time for the rebellious Martin. Martin has long hair and wants to be a writer, Ruby singer. The two meet as often as possible. This is against the wishes of Ruby's strict Catholic father, who finds that Martin's artistic attitude to life does not fit with what he has provided for the faithful Ruby. Therefore, both must keep their love a secret.
