Victoria plot

Johannes, the son of a poor miller, meets 10-year-old Victoria, the daughter of a wealthy estate owner, at the age of 14. During the years that follow, Johannes does everything he can to impress her and climb the social ladder, which he fails to do. After several encounters, they declare their love for each other. However, Victoria is obliged by her father to marry wealthy Otto, the son of a governor, to ensure her parents' future prosperity.
