Tsar i General plot

This film focuses on the conflict between General Vladimir Zaimov, a fervent patriot and Slavophile, and the Bulgarian Tsar Boris III. This is essentially a political and ideological conflict in which personal motives, affinities, and hostility also play a role. Zaimov opposes the official policy of the palace, which seeks to drag Bulgaria into the war against the Soviet Union. Although this step is unofficially postponed, Zaimov—who had been secretly in contact with the Russians—is arrested, accused of treason, sentenced to death, and executed.
