Tôkyô Sukin plot
'Mei fa zi' means 'I can't help it'. It is a statement that Zhou, a thirty-year-old Chinese, has used countless times in the five years he has been living in Tokyo. He feels that everything he does is going wrong. Zhou runs a consultancy for foreigners. Together with two other Chinese men, he uses his company to recover stolen goods, to commit fraud, to launder money, to forge passports and to arrange marriages of convenience. He is aware that these are all illegal activities, but he and his colleagues have to do everything they can to make a living. However, Zhou is not satisfied with these petty criminal affairs, he is brooding on something big, something good or something bad to which he can give all his energy. Kazuo and Ali are also out to make a big hit. Kazuo is a failed painter and drug addict who went to New York ten years ago and has now returned to Tokyo, and Ali is a rich kid from Pakistan who gets into an argument with a compatriot in Tokyo and then seeks adventure.
