After the end of World War II, American war hero Paul Taggart remains in France. Paul is busy there and standing with trading on the lucrative black market. Paul meets the attractive and married Frenchwoman Christine Lund Lestrac and they fall in love. Christine's husband is in prison for collaborating with the Nazis. But Paul and Christine first have to work through all kinds of guilt arising from their past and getting in the way of their future together.
