Rich salesman Steve Howard (Rod Steiger) is married to Francis (Claire Bloom). On a business trip, Steve falls head over heels for sexy 19-year-old hitchhiker Ella (Judy Geeson). At first he thinks he has the situation under control, but when Ella insists on living with Steve and his wife, the affair spirals out of control.
