Those Who Judge plot

Despite Angelique Dean's apparent friendship with Chapman Griswold, a society drifter, John Dawson falls in love with her and asks the charming and mysterious "widow" to marry him. John then hears from Griswold that Angelique has never been married. When John breaks off the engagement, Angelique is forced to accept Griswold's marriage proposal, fearing that he will reveal the fact that she was tricked into a marriage of convenience to Major Twilling, a British officer.
