Because of his German descent, Carl Steelman is asked by his FBI boss Craig if he wants to go incognito among a group of Nazi spies to learn more about their illegal activities in America. Carl is soon included in that group, but his father Julius, who always drives him to their residence, knows nothing about his son's secret assignment. One day Carl is sent to Germany to undergo training. In Berlin, he falls in love with Helga Lorenz, who is a member of the German underground resistance. In order to keep his true mission a secret and to save his identity, however, he must betray Helga to the Gestapo, but he then manages to let her escape to England. Will Carl ever see Helga again, after completing his submarine training, he's sent back to America to carry out sabotage attacks on Long Island?
