"As big as the heart of humanity"
Joseph White is an unhappily married man with four adult children. He and his wife, Lois, have grown further and further apart over the years. His eldest son, Arthur, is married and his other three children, Janet, Fred and Dick, are always on the go. No one seems to pay any attention to Joseph anymore and he feels bored, ignored and unloved. But then, out of the blue, he bumps into a former childhood sweetheart, Alice Vail. They renew their friendship, and as Frank begins to enjoy someone else's interest and attention, their feelings for each other deepen.
