The Yellow Stain plot

Donald Keith, a young lawyer who takes up residence in the small town of Owasco, Michigan, is opposed by wood king Quartus Hembly, feared by all the town's people. Keith takes on Daniel Kersten's case against Hembly, who has stolen his property from him. During his investigation, Keith discovers that Thora Erickson's father, whom he loves, is conspiring with Hembly against Kersten.
