Margaret Mary Elderdice is an intelligent somewhat older woman. She is quite distant and has little contact, except with her noisy neighbor Cara Varnum. He plays the violin, so Margaret can accompany her beautifully on the piano. Cara shows up one day with a new friend, the young Robin Oiseau. Margaret recognizes many of her childhood dreams in her and she develops into a passionate manager and matchmaker.
