The Trouble with Nature plot
Driven out of London by spiraling debt and a philosophical midlife crisis, Edmund Burke decides to take a trip through the French Alps. He is accompanied by a servant he borrows from his brother's plantation in the West Indies, a young native woman named Awak. Burke — anything but an outdoorsman — drags himself up complaining, but Awak, meanwhile, carries all the necessities and keeps Burke's face powdered.
