The Speed of Life plot

13-year-old Sammer lives in New York and occasionally goes to Manhattan with friends to steal cameras from tourists. Sammer is a strange boy who likes to fantasize, lives with his blind foster mother and plans to leave New York one day. Once he has enough money, his probation period is over and he can help his mother to see again, he wants to discover the world. For now, though, he must deal with his probation officer who doesn't particularly like children, an ex-con who steals puppies, and a bum who sees himself as a prophet and is suicidal...
