The Sign on the Door plot

While working as a stenographer, Ann Hunniwell narrowly avoids intimidating behavior from her boss's dissolute son, Frank Devereaux. She later marries 'Lafe' Regan, only discovering that he knows Devereaux after they are married. Ann's stepdaughter, Helen, falls for Devereaux and makes plans to visit his apartment. However, Ann finds out the date and decides to go there first.
