The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister plot
In the nineteenth century, the orphan Anne Lister lives with her aunt and uncle. The latter want her to get married and be happy as soon as possible, but they don't know anything about her sexuality. As a result, Anne writes everything in code in her diaries. Her great love Mariana, with whom she has a serious relationship, suddenly decides to marry a widower and Anne feels completely cheated. Yet Mariana visits her and they make love again and again. Mariana promises again and again that she will leave her husband or that they will at least be together when her husband dies. Yet Anne realizes that these are empty promises, partly because of her ex-girlfriend Tib. Circumstances lead her to meet Anne Walker, who ensures that her life takes a new turn.
