The Runner Stumbles plot
Father Rivard is a priest in a small coal mining town. He lives with the cruel lives of his poor parishioners, the old, unkind nuns in the nearby monastery, and his own self-doubts. When Rita, an energetic and intelligent young sister, arrives at the parish, he finds someone to talk to, someone with whom he has a lot in common. This sets in motion a series of moves and events that lead to Sister Rita's death.
