The Round Tower plot

Vanessa Ratcliffe is rich and strong-willed. Angus Cotton is poor but ambitious. The two are good friends despite all the opposition from her snobbish parents. Then Vanessa becomes pregnant and not by Angus. But Angus is held responsible for this by everyone in the area. As Vanessa's best friend, he wants to help and support her, but that becomes difficult.
