The Ragged Heiress plot

Facing a prison sentence, James Moreton arranges for his motherless daughter, Lucia, to be cared for by his brother and sister-in-law. However, she is cruelly treated by them and runs away with her nurse, Nora Burke. As a young woman, she takes the name Lucia Burke, and after Nora's death, she gets a job in her uncle's house. Neither is aware of the other's identity.
