The Prince of Tempters plot

The virtuous Francis and the wavering Mario are two Benedictine monks. With papal dispensation, Francis is voluntarily released from his vows to assume the responsibilities of an inherited earldom. Meanwhile, Mario renounces his vows without permission, hoping to claim Francis' title and wealth. The drama reaches its climax when Mario enlists the help of the beautiful Dolores to discredit Francis in the eyes of his beloved Monica.
