The Point of Regret plot

Yorkshire, 1978. A mother, father and their three-year-old son are brutally stabbed to death in their sleep. There is no motive. They were a model family. The nation is outraged by the senseless killings. The indignation grows when it turns out that the murderer is their twelve-year-old son William. Malvern, thirty years later. Ryan is thirty-three. He dreams of being a journalist with a national voice but still works for a small local newspaper. He also doesn't try very hard and blames everyone for his failure. So why did William, who has since been released and given a new identity, choose him to tell the world his story?
