"An age of deceit... A man of our times"
A shrewd man working as a journalist for the BBC is particularly good at self-promotion. He is working on a book about the 1956 Suez Canal crisis and hopes for an unparalleled career with it. He pursues an investigator to learn more details about the crisis. Gradually, however, he loses the intention of his research and falls madly in love with the researcher.
