The Penalty Phase plot

Things all seemed to be simple. The killer had all the evidence against him and confessed. Prosecutor Jansen couldn't be more bigoted and conservative. In addition, the jury already had a verdict: guilty on more than 30 charges. But suddenly Judge Hoffman (Peter Strauss) discovers that the evidence has been illegally obtained and that the trial must be stopped.
