The Painted Lady plot

After being released from prison for a crime committed by her sister, Violet is forced to become a woman of easy virtue. During a field trip to a South Seas island, she meets Luther Smith, a sailor seeking revenge for his sister's death. She feels unworthy of his love, but their paths cross again when he saves her from Captain Sutton, the man responsible for the other girl's tragedy.
